Schools Take a Healthier Approach to College Admissions

To support a healthier, more balanced approach to college admissions, Challenge Success partner schools have implemented innovative programs and initiatives that emphasize that there are multiple paths to success and a wide range of colleges that may be a good fit. Explore some of these ideas below.

Concord Carlisle High School filled their hallways with stories of alumni who took non-linear and less traditional paths to find their own definition of success.

Westford Academy designed a live, storytelling event to challenge and inspire students and parents to rethink what “success” looks like.

Miramonte High School created a series of posters and placed them around their school that highlighted what colleges well-known scientists, engineers, novelists, journalists, and actors attended. (Hint: they aren’t brand name schools.)

Palo Alto High School student newspaper decides to not publish the traditional college map of where students are going to college to take a stand against ‘toxic, comparison-driven culture.’
